Celebrating 70 Years of the NHS – Derby Day School – Summer 2018

NHSThe National Health Service was part of the reforms introduced by the Labour party after the Second World War. The course will examine the reasons for its creation and how it fits into the pattern of welfare developments since 1900. The role of Aneurin Bevan will be a consideration as will the very influential William Beveridge Report. Changes made to the Health Service in the early years will be reviewed. Also the Spirit of ’45 will be critically discussed. Links will be made to the anniversary of 70 years of existence of the NHS which occurs in 2018.
