A course for anyone interested in local history, the history of travel, and/or walking. The old Derbyshire Portway ran through Holbrook on its route north. We will study the development of this and other ancient Derbyshire tracks, and their evolution through the Roman and medieval periods into the modern road network. We will examine documentary sources and the evidence on the ground, via two field trips.
