The Roman Republic- Summer 2016

ColiseumThe Roman world is best recognised and understood in Britain from the remains of the Imperial era from the 1st Century AD onwards. Less well understood is the centuries of growth, strife and social upheaval that gave rise to the Imperial age and the rule of the Pax Romana. This course charts the rise and its corruption from the republican ideal to a monarchical empire.
